Mindful Hypnotherapy

Join me on Wednesdays to experience a new approach to mindfulness: one that builds upon and enhances the experience of present moment mindfulness by utilising the potent concentration of hypnotherapy.

The theoretical underpinnings behind this group are based on the book Mindful Hypnotherapy by doctors Gary R. Elkins and Nicholas Olendzki and the mindfulness theories, scripts, and practices of Sean Fargo, a former monk and internationally acclaimed mindful meditation teacher.

The primary themes of mindfulness that will be covered are: present moment awareness, non-judgmental awareness of sensations, thoughts, and emotions, self-hypnosis and mindful hypnotherapy, self-compassion, and mindfulness for awareness of values. Each week will have a different primary focus, but many concepts will be blended together.

In particular, we will tackle non-judgement, which for most people feels like an impossible dream. I take a different approach than most mindfulness teachers that is influenced by my training as a “parts” therapist, or IFS therapist. Rather than trying to be non-judgmental, we will welcome awareness of our judgmental parts without trying to push them away or make them quiet. This paradoxical approach has worked well for my clients and is a tool I plan to integrate into this group.

My hope is to help people who are beginners and advanced meditators alike come together in a deliberate and structured practice so they can quiet their minds, slow down, and step back from the fast pace of everyday life.

But perhaps most of all, I would like to be able to more broadly share these incredibly useful techniques and tools I use with all of my individual clients to great success and personal relief.
